Recently, Collin decided that he wanted to interview an MMA trainer. It's a cool sport, people just beat the shit out of each other in a literal cage, Collin thought it would be an interesting interview. So Collin e-mailed a local MMA gym. The man who responded, and agreed to do the interview, came over and started talking. And what came out of his mouth was a crazy odyssey of sex, crime, violence, fat guys in diapers, Jesus Christ and so much more! This is one of the most unpredictable interviews Collin has ever done, with a man who has done a lot of things he regrets, and a number of things he doesn't, and has no problem talking all about it! Evon Russell is a gay, black man from Pittsburgh. That put him at a significantly higher risk for HIV, stastically speaking. And, wouldn't you know it, Evon had the unfortunate luck to contract the human immunodeficiency virus. As you probably know, HIV is a virus that attacks your white blood cells and just generally fucks up your whole immune system and if left unchecked can eventually lead to full blown AIDS, which is even nastier. Evon has been living with this diagnosis, and the implications there-in, for many years now and he sat down with Collin to talk all about health, sex, love, travel, race, and so much more! In the bible, which is presumably a book you've heard of, Beninah was one of King David's mighty men. Basically, a tough bad-ass kind of dude. At one point he straight ups just kills a lion (Samuel 23:20). A leader of a small cult in central Illinois prophesied that a child would be born, a great leader of men, and that child would be named Jordan Beninah. A couple decades later, that child sat down with Collin to talk about being born into a cult, grappling with faith, suicide, death, murder, jerking off, and so much more! How much money do you have on your right now? Ten bucks? A hundred bucks? A thousand bucks? Even more? Nick Woolworth is a man who regularly had hundreds of thousands of dollars to his name, in cash and chips and other forms of currency. And he made it all by games of skill, with a strong component of luck. He was a professional gambler, and he made millions and lost even more in places as diverse as Lad Vegas and rural Minnesota. He sits down with Collin to talk about poker, black jack, luxury, sin, odds, love, loss, and so much more! It's a good one! Simona Signoret is from Latvia, a small country between Lithuania and Estonia on the Baltic sea. It is not Latveria, the fictional country Doctor Doom is from. Collin makes that mistake sometimes. When Simona left her home country, it was still under the auspices of the Soviet Union. Soon after, the Soviet Union fell apart. Simona sits down with Collin to talk about her memories of that time, her parent's impression of being Jews in the USSR, boobs, and so much more! To quote Louis CK, "the meal isn't over when I'm full. The meal is over when I hate myself." To Courtney Peterson, that struggle with self control, and compulsive eating is a part of everyday life. She used to weight damn near 300 pounds, until she decided to get a dangerous and invasive surgery to literally force herself to eat less. She sits down with Collin, who has his own damn problems with food, to talk all about self-control, self-hate, self-aggrandizement, and so much more about ourselves! Andrew Pauli is not a normal guy, for reasons apparent at the outset of the interview and for other reasons that slowly begin to be revealed as the interview progresses. He was in the military sure, and he worked on planes with nuclear capabilities. Like, he's probably been in the same room as a straight up nuclear bomb. He has feelings about his time in the military, and about all kinds of engines (including, perhaps most importantly, his own goddamn mind), and he sits down with Collin to dig into everything he's been through and where his head and his body are at nowadays. Birdies go chirp, chirp, chirp! They're some of the all-around loveliest creatures around (most of the time, sort of, arguably not) and everyone sees tons of them everyday. But how much do you really know about birds? If you're Chris Churchill, it's quite a bit. He's a bit of an expert on birds, which is good because they're one of the only things that has helped him get cope with his often times debilitating mental health issues. He sits down with Collin and they go on a journey through depression, panic attacks, self-harm, and lots of birds. Lots and lots of birds! When you get pregnant, you have three options: You keep it, you abort it, or you give it up. Katie Oliver got pregnant at 21, way before she was ready to have a family, and so all three options scared her. Coming from a very catholic background, she was confused and needed help. What she eventually decided to do about her pregnancy is the basis for a chat she had with Collin, where we talk about all the ways Katie is and isn't a parent to a wonderful 13 year old boy. Also, Collin talks about how this episode completes a trilogy of episodes about parents, more or less. There are certain issues that inspire a real passion in people, for better or worse. If reproductive rights isn't right at the top of that list, it's at least damn close. A woman's right to choose (or, as the flip side might argue, a fetus' right to live) is integral to someone's identity, and it makes sense that it would inspire people to make signs and yell at each other in public. Staying above the fray is a group of people called escorts. No, not the escorts you're thinking of (although Collin would love to hear their opinion on reproductive rights as well). Amanda Cohen and Jo Beth Harrison are two of many women who escort people into and out of abortion clinics, doing their best to keep them calm and protect them from protesters. Collin sat down with them to talk all about the ins and outs of abortion, women's issue, and basic goddamn human decency. Also, Collin plugs a LIVE AWKWARD MOMENTS AT THE LAUGH FACTORY ON MAY 29TH!
